Yes, this page is NOT pokémon. But I spent too much time and money collecting Monster Hunter figures to not give them a page. I got hooked by Monster Hunter Tri. The Lagiacrus on the cover hooked me, and true to form, that beast was what caused me to stop playing for a year or so. With the release of MH3U for 3DS, I was enthralled by my beloved Hunting Horn, the Metal Bagpipe. After a few hunts, I tested the Dual Blades, and never looked back. The Pelagic Deublades were my favorites until I got my Brachydios set. I use Azure Rath. Soul Armor, and switch between Ceadeus and Brachy. dual blades, and the Yuan Dao, the Hallowed Jhen Mohran Long sword. My favorite monsters are the Qurupecos, Azure Rathalos, Gore Magala, Shagaru Magala, Gogmazios, White Fatalis, Kirin and Oroshi Kirin, Kushala Daoara, and Gamuto.
Bandai Soul Styling Figures
A series of blind packaged figures produced by Bandai. Out of production, these are some of the older figures, and as such, many of the Elder Dragons, Akantor, Ukanlos, Chameleos, and Lunastra/Teostra can sell for a pretty penny. Others suck as Yama Tsukami rarely, if ever, pop up for sale. I own one, and it is one of three I have ever seen hit the auction block. There were around six sets made, ending right around the time MH3 hit the market in Japan. These figures are smaller than Figure Builders, but generally average slightly more.
Capcom figure builder
The series that followed after Soul Styling. Owned and produced by Capcom, These were made in far greater number, so they are less expensive (usually), and in my opinion, usually don't have the best paint jobs. The earlier sets were far better quality, and the decline began around the sixth-seventh sets. There are near fifteen sets, each averaging 7-9 figures, blind packaged in a box of 6-9 (if you buy a sealed box, you're guaranteed a full set- at least, I always got a full set). Earlier sets had 9 figures, while newer sets have 6 figures, and each figure contains a spare part that can be pieced together to make a seventh figure. This series makes far greater use of repaints of the same mold, and rereleases with slightly differing paint jobs. There are regular "Rage Mode" and "Best Of" sets which reissue older figures.
Plush and Bandai straps/zukans
Small figures blind packaged with candies. The straps are a personal favorite of mine, and some monsters only get figures as these. The small "zukan" figures are also blind packaged. Both are between 1-2 inches tall at most, and can be rather hard to find once they have been released for more than a month or two.
